FOOD SERVICE AIDE, FULL TIME
75 Bi-weekly hours – Day

SEIU Hourly Pay Rate: $21.4487 – $21.9026
The Food and Nutrition Services Department at Baycrest provides service to clients in the Baycrest Centre, the Apotex Jewish Home for the Aged, the Mountainview and Freeman Day Centres and the Terraces at Baycrest Retirement Home. Our vision is to provide safe, appetizing food of optimum nutritional quality to facilitate an enjoyable mealtime experience for patients, residents, staff and visitors in compliance with the Jewish laws of Kashruth.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performing duties as scheduled while adhering to standard Policy and Procedures
Preparing, portioning, storing all T.V. style trays – M.O.W., frozen T.V. tray dinners, bulk food orders, taking inventories of fridges/freezers pertaining to area record fridge and food temperatures
Following Kashruth dietary laws
Adhering to food handling methods according to established standards of sanitations and safety.
Keeping their area clean and sanitary according to Baycrest Policy and Procedures and Public Health policy
Participating actively in the department by attending departmental meetings, in-services and Quality Management activities.
Basic food preparation.
Accurately assembling food trays
Adhering to infection control practices, policies and procedures
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
Previous experience in a Food Services environment
Food Handlers Certificate qualifications as specified by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Legislation
Excellent customer service skills
Previous experience working with the elderly
Very well organized with the ability to work with minimum supervision
Good oral and written communication skills
A history of satisfactory attendance
Minimum grade 10 education (grade 12 preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team in order to accomplish daily tasks
