Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst will be primarily responsible for assisting with the financial reporting and the period-end close process on a monthly and quarterly basis for the Company. The role will include contributing to the detailed financial analysis, interpretation and evaluation of a variety of information to identify issues and other significant financial implications.

Key experience will include detailed knowledge of accounting principles and an understanding of mining operations. The role also requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Position Overview
The Financial Analyst’ has the following key responsibilities:

  • Support of the consolidated long-range plan/LOM model as well analysis and distillation of data for periodic briefing to senior management.
  • Maintaining the data in various planning systems (HPB, HFM, HSF) and ensuring that they reconcile.
  • Preparation of schedules and reconciliations that support the plan, including the widely distributed Budget and Life of Mine binder.
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly executive report encompassing budget/forecast variance analysis and analysis to prior month, where applicable;
  • Meet established internal and external deadlines to ensure timely financial reporting and maintain monthly tracking of external submissions and other key metrics;
  • Liaise with various internal departments, including tax and planning, to provide reports or information as required;
  • Ensure appropriate integration between financial accounting systems and reporting tools to enable accurate and timely financial reporting;
  • Assist with design and implementation of computer assisted financial analysis & reports; and
  • Participate in and support special projects as required.

Qualifications for the role:

Education & Experience

  • CA, CMA, CGA, or CPA designation required
  • Familiarity with US GAAP and IFRS
  • At least 2-3 years of post-certification experience, with specific experience in financial reporting
  • Mining experience desirable, but not required
  • Must be organized and detail oriented, but also be able to step back and think strategically
  • Exposure to global multination, preferably with a matrix structure
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule

Specialized Skills or Certifications:
Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified General Accountant, Certified Professional Accountant or equivalent
