Balcan Plastics is a leader in flexible packaging and plastics film in North America. His continuous growth over than 50 years make its standing in the industry. Its production capacity is divided into three separate manufacturing plants.

We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Process Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the same field

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The fundamental purpose of this position is to consistently improve the functioning and overall efficiency of a manufacturing process in all key areas.

The Continuous improvement process engineer will be responsible for the below tasks but not limited to the following:

  • Develop standard operating procedures and standard operating conditions and ensure they are followed.
  • Improve continually existing operation, for increased quality, productivity, efficiency and cost savings. This person must be comfortable working with all levels within the organization. He/she must be able to question the status quo and be a strong communicator.
  • Investigate and report operational problems affecting production and product quality and recommending proper solutions to eliminate reoccurrence
  • Train and lead cross-functional team members; focusing on measurable quality, service and cost improvements.
  • Key contributor to the successful implementation a formal six sigma program that focuses on reducing process and product variation. Lead the implementations of SPC, Process Capability, Pareto analysis, Fishbone, SMED and DOE tools and principles
  • Responsible for managing and leading continuous improvement projects, as well as mentoring and coaching other on the use of Six sigma lean manufacturing tools (5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen)
  • Liaise with QC/QA managers and production planner/scheduler for ensuring that released products meet specifications specially material held for in process NCP investigations. Ensure that root causes are identified and corrected
  • Organize and lead meetings of cross functional team members to facilitate Non-Confirming Product investigations.
  • Identify ways to reduce production costs through recommendations – i.e. new process equipment, equipment justification to improve performance
  • Work with product development team on DFX (design for excellence) to include:
  • Design for cost
  • Design for test
  • Design for manufacturability including packaging

Qualification:

  • Engineering Bachelor degree (mechanical, polymer or Industrial Preferred)
  • 3- 5 years of experience in manufacturing
  • Capability to manage through influence
  • 3-5 years’ statistics, Lean Six Sigma or other RCA experience preferred
  • Advanced level computer skills
  • Bilingual
