Requirements:

All applicants must be a student in a full time post-secondary program or a high school

student. In either instance, the applicant must also be intending to return to full time studies in the fall of 2017..

Job Description:

The Course Technician(s) will assist in assembling, maintaining, installing, and removing all

on/in-water equipment necessary for national level on-water racing events, including sprint canoe/kayak, rowing, dragon boat, and other such events held on Lake Banook,

Dartmouth during the summer months.

Work as a Course Technician will entail significant amounts of hands on work while on-

water. The Atlantic Division will organize and fund for the Course Technician(s) to undertake the Canadian Coast Guard Operators of Pleasure Craft Proficiency Course, as

well as educate the individual in the Canoe/Kayak Canada (national body) code of safety,

and provide an emergency contact list. Safety equipment such as personal flotation devices

(life jackets) and other required on-water safety equipment will be provided by the ADCKC. Weekend work is required.

The Course Technician(s) will be under the direction of the ADCKC Facilities Manager and Facilities Chairperson, a volunteer Executive position of the ADCKC. The Facilities Manager, with the assistance of the Facilities Committee, will arrange all training and performance evaluations for the Course Technician(s), monitor weekly activities, and approve of operating plans/weekly working hours.

The Course Technician will also work with the ADCKC Administrative Manager, a staff position

that will provide general office support.

motivation, a strong mechanical aptitude and a suitable mechanical background, and basic carpentry and tool handling skills.
