The Manager, Procurement and Contract Services provides strategic direction, advice and leadership to procurement and contract management functions to the Athabasca University (AU) Community. The Manager will focus on achieving superior value for Athabasca University, mitigating risk, and ensuring vendor accountability. The Manager will provide day-to-day leadership to the Procurement and Contract Services Team and is responsible for the development and management of the applicable budget and operational plans for the unit and for ensuring integration with overall Financial Sustainability and AU institutional needs, goals and objectives.The Manager develops and implements policies, procedures, best practices and systems that provide seamless client focused procurement and contract management services. The Manager maximizes the effectiveness of operations within a framework of fiscal, legal, legislative and audit requirements.

The successful candidate must have an undergraduate degree in a related field, a Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or legal designation plus 5 years related experience with progressive responsibility. In-depth knowledge of procurement and contract law and relevant provincial and federal legislation is required. Must have a demonstrated ability to apply due diligence processes and assess risk. Professional experience within a post-secondary setting is preferred. All educational credentials must be recognized in Canada.
