DESCRIPTION:

Division: Operations – Field Operations South
Location: Calgary
Salary: $2,956-$3,528 OR $2,294-$2,990 biweekly

Under the direction and leadership of the Team Leader, Field Operations South, we are seeking a Seasonal Transmission Operator to join our Field Services department in Calgary, AB. The Transmission Operator is responsible for, as required for the operation, maintenance and construction of high pressure pipeline facilities and related compression and gas condition equipment.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Company recognized courses*: Gas Compressors, Field Handling of Natural Gas, and Basic Instrumentation, or approved equivalents.
• Minimum two years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of high-pressure gas measurement and process control equipment, gas compression and conditioning equipment and odorant injection and gas quality testing process.
• Knowledge with respect to overall integrated system operation and how those facilities within assigned area affect overall system operation.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, learning ability, mechanical aptitude, initiative, mature judgment, responsible work habits.
• Valid Alberta Drivers’ License.
• Valid recognized First Aid Certificate.
• Dexterity in the use of hand tools, power and specialty equipment.
• Able to complete and pass a medical examination to enable wearing of the self-contained breathing apparatus for confined space entry.
• Available for standby duty as required.
• Commitment to active participation in the achievement of safety, environmental and quality objectives of the Corporation.
• Must be able to work with high-pressure gas.
• Must have a general knowledge of the natural gas industry.
• Will be required to work eight hour rotating day shifts or twelve hour rotating day/night shifts in those sections or areas where service levels demand shift coverage.
• Will be required to work in extreme temperature and weather condition

* Consideration may be given to candidates who have not completed the indicated courses. This position is a safety sensitive position, and the successful applicant will have up to 18 months to complete the required courses, and up to 30 months to complete the experience requirements. An employee not completing the required courses in the specified time period will have three months to post into another position. If unsuccessful, the employee’s employment may be terminated by the corporation as per Appendix B of the Collective Agreement.
