Astucemedia is a pioneer in data management and visualisation related to sports, finance/market data, elections, weather, social media, and more. The Astucemedia Data Platform is providing real-time data to various graphic systems within many International TV Networks as well as AR mobile apps and giant screens for immersive experience such as Time Square and race tracks. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our growing team in our Cité du Multimédia Montreal office. The company was established in 2006 and successful worldwide.


As a key member of our software development team focusing on data management and working collaboratively with the interactive data visualisation graphics department. Leading the data pipeline design, architecture, implementing new modules as well as supporting and improving existing modules of the Astucemedia Data Platform but most importantly; finance stock markets, statistic for sports such as for MLB, NHL, NFL, Nascar, NBA, Soccer and many others.

Senior Data Engineer is responsible for:

  • Evaluate and integrate third party data (finance, sports, elections, weather, social media)
  • Analyze, parse and extract data from structured and unstructured datasets
  • Maintain various datasets using complex data transformation in real-time
  • Design scalable data models that can support near low latency data ingest and distribution
  • Identify and correct data quality issues
  • Software maintenance of existing applications, troubleshooting, identifying and fixing issues
  • System installation and configuration as needed
  • Following and helping to improve the Astucemedia best practices for:
  • Source Code management
  • Technical management and development for services, technologies, and data integration
  • Product development cycle, from conceptual design & specification development to product integration
  • Prototyping, concept development & process development
  • Customized programming, scripting and database optimization
  • In addition, you are expected to:
  • Keep up to date and following industry trends related to software development practices, big data, data visualization.
  • Help us to advance and integrate the newest technologies – Big Data, machine learning & artificial intelligence, and how they can apply to our domain
  • At Astucemedia, the principal programming languages will be C#, C++. Other tools are used as necessary.


  • You have a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or equivalent.
  • You are detail-oriented, and have a strong sense of initiative and proactivity
  • You thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • You are always looking forward to learning (and mastering!) new domains and technologies
  • You can lead a team and communicate and document your ideas
  • You have at least 5 years of working experience working in a data engineering department and preferable as a Data Engineer or Analyst.


  • You have strong knowledge in programming (C#, C++), database design & ORM frameworks
  • You have a deep understanding of advanced technical concepts related to software development
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases include most important experience with MS-SQL.
  • You possess excellent analytical skills; can quickly identify a problem and suggest efficient solutions
  • You have an above average sense of communication with colleagues and clients
  • You are autonomous, flexible, resourceful, and you have quick learning abilities
  • You speak, read, and write in English at a very strong level; French and Arabic would also be helpful.


  • Experience in VR, Augmented Reality and Mobile development
  • Passion and experience in Finance
  • Passion and experience for Sports
  • Interest and understanding of principles of AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning
  • Base and interest in data visualisation
  • Experience in real-time graphics engines such as Unity, Unreal, Vizrt, Orad, Ventuz, Xpression.
  • Experience with data feeds such as Bloomberg B-Pipe, Thomson Reuters Elektron, Opta, Stats, AP…
  • Experience with MS Clustering and Networking
  • Cloud deployment (AWS, Azure, Google)
