The Executive Director is appointed by and reports to the President to the AFPC Board of Directors.

The Executive Director has overall accountability, responsibility and authority for the management of the business and affairs of the AFPC in accordance with strategic plan and objectives adopted and approved by Board and subject to oversight by the Board. The Executive Director enables AFPC to meet the requirements of funders, recipients of AFPC services, and to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

The prime responsibilities of the Executive Director are as follows: to implement AFPC Board and policy decisions; monitor and oversee financial management of AFPC; implement Council actions; manage staff, contracts and assets; develop, plan and deliver programs and services; and establish, maintain and advance interests and external relations.

Preferred qualifications include: related education (e.g., management degree, pharmacy or education professional degree) or equivalent experience; experience in managing a not-for-profit advocacy organization; familiarity with issues impacting post-secondary education; experience in initiating, planning, implementing and evaluating programs and services; and experience in staff and contract management.
