Reporting to the Rehab manager, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team, with due consideration provided for family and appropriate others. You will also ensure effective operation of the unit when assuming designated responsibilities as the assistant head nurse and contribute to the learning experience of students, staff and patients. Assistant head acts as a clinical resource/mentor for the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications:

Requirements for the position include: Current registration with CARNA; current CPR certification, I.V. initiation; recent acute medical and/or surgical nursing experience; a strong interest in caring for a diverse patient population and supporting their families; and a proven ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. Must be independent and accountable as consistent with the decentralized philosophy of delivery of patient care. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education and learning required. Excellent leadership, observation, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a rehabilitation setting are essential.

BSCN, Frontline Leadership and charge nurse education are assets.
