The Organization
The Public Employees Benefits Agency (PEBA) is an agency under the Saskatchewan Ministry of Finance that administers 11 pension plans, one annuity fund and 20 benefit programs for Saskatchewan public sector employers, employees and retirees. The pension plans include approximately 77,000 members, and the benefit programs count 71,000 members. Combined assets of the plans administered by PEBA are about $9 billion. The Position
The Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) reports to the Ministry of Finance Deputy Minister and is an integral part of the Ministry of Finance’s management team. The successful candidate will also have working relationships with a number of Boards and Commissions.
The Individual
Success in this position requires someone with a strong service orientation, excellent communication abilities, and analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Must possess the ability to effectively lead and develop a team of professionals.
Technical Requirements
Post-secondary education in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of pension and benefit plan design, administration and investments.
Knowledge of government processes, structures and directions.
Knowledge of government decision-making processes and public policy development.
Knowledge of the various regulatory requirements affecting the pension and benefit arena.
Knowledge of financial management, governance best practices and business improvement / change management.
