Arts Healing Hearts is a charitable nonprofit organization that strives to entertain and lift the spirits of patients in healthcare facilities through the delivery of visual and performing arts programs. Specifically, we focus on making the arts available to all patients by delivering programming to those who are not eligible for other creative expression programs like art or music therapy. We are looking for candidates who are willing to commit at least 3 hours per week to their coordinator duties and can make a commitment of six months or longer.

Our Programs:

  • Songs for the Spirit; Arts Healing Hearts’ “Songs for the Spirit” program brings live performances to patients in healthcare facilitates. Volunteer singers and musicians deliver performances to patients at their bedside to entertain them and lift their spirits.
  • Inpatient Art Initiative; Arts Healing Hearts’ “Inpatient Art Initiative” is our newest program and gives patients an opportunity to express themselves through visual arts. Arts Healing Hearts runs weekly arts & crafts programming for patients who are part of inpatient programs, including painting, pillow case decorating, bracelet making and more!
  • Creativity Kits; Creativity Kits are care packages that are provided free-of-cost to children who are patients at hospitals or other healthcare facilities and include colouring books, art supplies, CDs, and more!

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform for patients on a weekly or bi-weekly basis
  • Liaise with healthcare staff to coordinate performances and receive feedback
  • Coordinate a weekly performance schedule for the volunteers under your supervision
  • Assist with recruiting and selecting new volunteers for the program

We are specifically seeking applicants with skills or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Team leadership and development
  • Program facilitation
  • Scheduling and planning
  • Professional or voluntary experience within a healthcare setting
  • Music and arts experience; ability to sing or play an instrument

Right now we are seeking a coordinator for:

UHN/Toronto Western (Bathurst/Dundas)

Dates/Times: Monday – Friday between 8am and 4pm

Music is performed for patients and families in waiting areas, clinics, activity rooms and at patients’ bedsides. Performances are usually 1 – 5 songs in length and performers work in pairs. Volunteer sessions are 1 – 2 hours in length.
