The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Fund Development Manager, the Walk Coordinator will be responsible for successfully executing all logistics related to the Walk for Arthritis sites in Alberta in partnership with the organizing committees. He/she will work with our revenue development team to secure sponsorships and event vendors for the Walk for Arthritis, and will develop unique features for the event to attract participants, making the Walk for Arthritis an outstanding fundraising event. The successful candidate will promote the Walk for Arthritis and will implement recruiting strategies to drive registration, participation and fundraising for the event. Key responsibilities will include assisting communications staff to execute local marketing plans; providing leadership and support to committee members and volunteers, keeping them engaged and motivated; and evaluating, tracking and monitoring all Walk for Arthritis activities in accordance with organizational practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will possess a university degree or diploma in event planning, fundraising or a relevant discipline with a minimum of two (2) years of event planning and/or fundraising experience gained within a fast-paced environment. He/she will be highly computer literate with excellent Microsoft Office skills, Raiser’s Edge skills are an asset. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a budget and securing sponsorship for events. Public relations, social media and volunteer management skills are a must. He/she will be enthusiastic and proactive with demonstrated initiative and success motivating and stewarding volunteers and donors. Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends will be required, with access to a vehicle necessary.

Please note that this contract position shall run from mid to late March 2018 until mid-June 2018 inclusive, with the candidate working thirty-five (35) hours per week.
