  • Design and manage customer specific projects from concept, design, and completion by satisfying the needs of the client, budget, timeline, and quality standards.
  • Liaising with Project Management, Design and Pre-Production and Development (PP&D) to establish and ensure engineering solutions , CAD package and design for manufacturability (DFM) requirements are met;
  • Adapting and Developing design drawings to suit manufacturing processes for issue to the Model Shop;
  • Preparing planograms, technical drawings, tool drawings, CNC cut files, and typesafety drawings;
  • Creating accurate Bill of Materials to support special design projects:
  • Working with multiple stakeholders to evaluate the feasibility of their technical packages by considering practicality, functionality, aesthetics, budget, and production cost/methods;
  • Partnering with PP&D team and coordinating the fabrication of samples alongside team members as well as revising technical packages;
  • Liaise with 3rd party suppliers to sources components related to Design;
  • Reviewing & approving all prototype samples before being released for client review or production use;
  • Collaborating with associates on the development and execution of design/planogramming/engineering solutions to ensure production packages convey the necessary information;
  • Creating full technical packages for production use;
  • Preparing and maintaining a Digital Product and Component Library.

Skills Required:

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Design
  • Strong drafting skills and high proficiency with Solidworks – sheet metal, Weldments, Geometrical tolerances and fixture assemblies
  • Experience with CNC Programming / Tool Path an asset
  • Excellent communication skills (Oral & Written)
  • A good understanding of manufacturing processes related to acrylic, sheet metal, bar, tube stock, fixtures, plywood, laminate, colour, core, and wood structures
  • Ability to Engineer fixtures for knock down construction and simplified assembly at store level
  • Drive to experiment with progressive mechanical design methods that can be effectively manufactured within Array standards (DFM)
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem solving & decision making skills
  • The ability to multitask – involvement in multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of drawing standards related to ANSI, CSA, UL and revision control standards on drawings
