What Are We Looking For?

Reporting to the General Manager, the Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Coordinator is responsible for implementing and maintaining project quality control systems and plans, including the design and development of mechanical specifications and practices, ensuring that quality control is carried out in a satisfactory manner according to the specifications and applicable codes.

Role & Responsibilities

Ensuring that the project quality plans and procedures are activated at site.

Monitoring the phases of quality control of work as per specifications.

Reporting on daily inspection and testing activities and issuing non-conformance reports when the specification or procedural requirements are not met.

Coordinating inspections of all mechanical/HVAC materials, equipment, and site construction activities and maintaining inspection and testing records.

Monitoring and ensuring that all mechanical/HVAC site activities are conducted in accordance with approved shop drawings, specifications and installation procedures, and that material storage procedures are properly implemented.

Coordinating the document controls of technical submittals, drawings, etc with the Project Team and ensuring that QA/QC validations have been completed.

Monitoring the required tests and recording inspections and tests made per the contract plans and specifications.

Providing technical support to the General Manager and guidance to site staff in submission of materials for approvals, requests for inspections, shop drawings, etc.

Conducting internal quality audits.

Participating in project review meetings and alerting the project team of any potential problems.

Ensuring the quality records, acceptance certificates, mechanical completion certificates, and the documentation for specific systems and buildings/areas are prepared and organized in accordance with project requirements

Reviewing supplier inspections and test plans against the scope of work.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum three (3) years of mechanical QA/QC field experience for large-scale construction projects; or Mechanical Engineering education with field experience.
Familiar with mechanical and plumbing design, codes, standards, and guidelines
Knowledge of fabrication processes for mechanical systems and equipment specifications
Ability to read and understand production drawings
Proficient computer skills including knowledge of web-based software and Microsoft Office Suite are required
Experience with Timberline (SAGE 300) is a definite asset

Interpersonal skills and ability to develop positive working relationships with clients and coworkers.
