GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Plant Coordinator is responsible for supporting manufacturing administrative activities in the office and the plant. ie shipping/receiving, plant organization and inventory control.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Details of Position

  • Maintains proper inventory records, and makes a physical inventory count as required by Plant Manager.
  • Coordinate production in support of inventory levels and customer orders
  • Coordinate internal and external Shipping/Receiving
  • Coordinate the Yard for organization and adherence to 6S
  • Back up for Plant Manager in support of customer service
  • Take a leading role in plant health and safety
  • Purchasing office and plant supplies, stock/ transfer orders as required
  • Assists Customer Service Representative in servicing customer inquiries
  • Promote and support as part of daily activities for all areas:
  • 6S and Lean Manufacturing
  • Working safely
  • Complete purchase requisitions
  • Data Entry of production/ BOMs
  • Attendance and Payroll/ Time clock functions
  • Other duties as required
  • MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/CHALLENGES

  • Achieve manufacturing goals and schedules
  • Maintain and monitor inventory level
  • Complete daily cycle counts and other duties as required
  • Back up for Plant Manager in their absence
  • Strive to do the best in support of the customer
  • Coordinate labor requirements with Plant Manager
  • Actively participate in the Health and Safety Program
  • FUNCTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma (Grade 12)
  • Two years’ experience in a supervisory role at a shop floor level
  • Excellent communication skills—verbal and written
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to use a computer and programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. as well as SAP
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maintain and improve with 6S (Sort, Set and Order, Standardize, Sustain, Shine and Safety) and Lean Manufacturing
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Adhere to quality standards as established by the plant
  • Awareness and attention to safety
  • WORKING CONDITIONS

    Physical Effort

    • Required on occasion to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Work in a seated position with frequent opportunity to walk around
    • Use of both hands is required, continuous use of computer

    Physical Environment

    • Much of the time spent in the office in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about spending time in the plant and yard (dusty, noisy and not uniformly heated).

    Sensory Environment

    • Regularly required to give attention to what is going on in plants. Unusual occurrences, which demand close attention, happen several times daily.
