Reporting to the Project Geologist and Chief Geophysicist, this position is responsible for the following duties:
Works on AREVA’s exploration projects, in accordance with the direction of the Chief Geophysicist and requirement of Project Geologists and/or the District Geologists.
Providing logistical and technical support for exploration/development programs as directed by the Chief Geophysicist in conjunction with the Project/District Geologists. These duties include, but are not limited to:
Assist with drill core related activities (measuring, labelling, and radiometry) as assigned by the Project Geologist or designate.
Down hole probing data acquisition;
Probing data QA/QC;
Probing data processing & interpretation;
Infrared Spectrometry measurements on drill core (TerraSpec);
Physical property measurements on drill core (density, resistivity, magnetic susceptibility)
Computer data entry into the project database;
Providing written / oral presentation of results, as required;
Assisting in the enforcement and monitoring of the radiation protection and ISO 14001 standards.
Must be fully aware of his/her role and responsibilities as defined in the ISO 14001 Core Procedures and support files.
Will comply with the Health, Safety, Radiation Protection standards in force at AREVA Resources Canada Inc. and the ARC environmental policy; he/she will enforce them with exploration workers and contractors as applicable.
Skills and Q
alifications for the position include:
Geophysical/Geological technologist or technician diploma;
Previous experience working at exploration sites and/or logistically difficult areas is an asset;
Mechanical/electronic knowledge and skills considered an asset.
Good organizational skills, task-oriented and rigorous approach required;
Excellent computer skills; familiarity with Geosoft, WellCAD, and Microsoft Excel would be considered an asset;
Excellent communication skills;
Ability to physically work in difficult and isolated conditions.
Work Location & Schedule:
Saskatoon Corporate Office
Up to several months of the year in isolated exploration camps or mine sites on a three week in and one week out field rotation.
