Accounts Payable and Receivable Clerk

Ardel Steel has established a solid reputation in the fabrication, distribution and installation of reinforcing steel and related products in Saskatchewan. We are seeking a motivated individual to cover a maternity leave for approximately 14 months . (Start Date: February 27th, 2017)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Clerk will perform a number of duties related to administration and accounting. This person will be someone who pays attention to detail and has highly developed organizational skills, to ensure the accuracy of our financial transactions. They will provide support to our 2 Saskatchewan locations.

Regular activities include but are not limited to:

Accounts Payable:

  • Code and enter vendor invoices in accounting system
  • Process vendor payments via cheque as well as online
  • File vendor invoices and statements
  • Reconcile monthly mastercard statement
  • Respond to vendor inquiries

Accounts Receivable:

  • Prepare daily bank deposit
  • Record and apply deposits in accounting system (Bank, POS, EFT)
  • File deposits
  • Prepare daily customer retail invoices
  • Process monthly customer AR statements



  • Month end reconciliations and accruals as assigned
  • Other related accounting and administrative duties as assigned
  • Occasional backup to order desk

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication skills oral, written, and listening
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Keen attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a team


  • A business certificate or some accounting related education preferred
  • 1 – 2 years experience working in an accounts payable/receivable position
  • Preference given to those with experience in the construction, manufacturing, or steel fabrication industry
  • Combination of experience and education will be considered
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word in particular)
  • Experience in aSa/Sage software would be an asset
