Various Programs

Summer Camps at Appleby College provide coeducational opportunities to develop advanced skills, and promote interactive skills among participants. Each Appleby camp has the use of superb facilities and offers access to excellent instruction. In all programs we emphasize individual development, participation, co-operation and fun!

Under the supervision of the Program Director, Media, the Communications Photographer will photograph or film participants for the various summer programs offered and produce weekly slideshows or other program materials as requested. Working cooperatively with Program Directors, Instructors and Residential Counselors, the Communications Photographer will engage participants with enthusiasm and energy making photo and video opportunities fun for everyone. The Communications Photographers will also provide instruction and direction to Communications Volunteers.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with summer program staff to photograph or film participants and/or produce edited photographs and footage for weekly slideshows and web galleries Complete tasks as assigned and to scheduled deadlines

  • Work cooperatively and participate in program activities where required
  • Provide leadership, training and guidance to Communications Volunteers
  • Observe and promote all rules and regulations established for the program to include Appleby’s Mutual Respect policy
  • Seek assistance and advice from the Director of Summer Media Programs or appointed supervisor and ensure all decisions made have the appropriate approvals
  • Participate in all required training related to health and safety and for photography equipment and software

    Knowledge and Skills:

  • Applicants for this position should have a secondary school diploma
  • Experience in photography with the energy and enthusiasm to make participants and instructors enjoy being filmed/ photographed
  • Knowledge and experience with a digital SLR camera and film-making
  • Able to quickly learn graphics software through online and supervised training
  • Knowledge of graphics and video-editing software including Lightroom, Premiere, Photoshop, Final Cut, Photodex Proshow and online web galleries (such as SmugMug) all an asset
  • Must be able to work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills
  • Possess the ability to work with others and follow direction
  • Team oriented, motivational and creative
  • Energetic and enthusiastic
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification

    Appleby College Camps and Academics provide the highest quality of instruction to campers in a fast paced and challenging work environment. Compensation is dependent on experience and qualifications.
