Reporting and Relationships

The position reports to the General Manager and has no direct reports. The Dispatcher | Customer Service Representative works closely with the following internal and external stakeholders:

  • Traffic Control Persons and supervisors
  • OHS Supervisor/Field Inspectors
  • Work crews
  • Other Dispatchers and Accounting staff
  • Traffic Control Planners
  • Management
  • Clients
  • The public

Hours of Work & Compensation

  • 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday-Friday
  • 8 hours per day with 30-min lunch break. 47.5 hours per week
  • $45K+ per annum based on experience and in accordance with our established salary guidelines.
  • This position is eligible for employee benefits.


1. Managing Schedules and Work Orders

  • Schedule and dispatch Traffic, work crews, equipment, or service vehicles to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs, using radios, email or telephones. Assist employees with routing directions when necessary.
  • Relay work orders, messages, and information to or from work crews, supervisors, and field inspectors using telephones, email or two-way radios. Clarify and coordinate with accounting staff for the information relating to dispatch.
  • Prepare daily work and run schedules.
  • Receive or prepare work orders. Prepare dispatch changes for the special service requirements or events.

2. Customer Issue Resolution

  • Confer with customers or supervisors to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment.

3. Record Keeping

  • Record and maintain files, master dispatch sheet and records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information.
  • Maintain employees’ certificate or other job related record up to date.

4. Communication and Coordination of Work

  • Oversee all communications within specifically assigned territories
  • Monitor workers and/or equipment use and locations to coordinate service and schedules. Report and document all customer service, planning and worker related issues to the appropriate individuals.
  • Coordinate with other dispatchers in carrying out daily duties.
  • Once able, this position will train an assistant.


You have strong interpersonal skills and know how to put people at ease and provide great customer service to internal and external customers – even when you’re under pressure. You’re firm when working with and scheduling internal staff for customer projects, but you’re always friendly and professional.

You’re organized and reliable and are a good multi-tasker. Most of all, you’re positive and are known as someone who enjoys working with people.


You have the following skills:

  • Working knowledge of dispatch systems/applications, processes and best practices

You have the following experience, education/training:


Minimum of 2 years in a busy dispatcher, customer service, or call center role where strong multi-tasking skills were required


Participation in dispatcher/call center/customer service training
