EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY 5 Month Contract Position

Children’s Mental Health Worker

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The social worker will provide children/youth with assessment and therapeutic treatment, case management, counseling, advocacy, parent and children/youth groups.
  • Complete electronic charting on all clients’ records and service statistics; maintaining appropriate progress reports and ensuring clients records are up to date.
  • Supervision of a data base system ensuring that information is collected, recorded, maintained and monitored for quality assurance.
  • Participate and or chair consultations, case conferencing, groups, family circles and other agency partnership collaborative events.
  • Partake in research and training for all centre’s activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MSW and 2 years’ experience in the social services setting, especially with homeless clients.
  • Registered with the College Of Social Work.
  • Knowledge of casework and case load supervision, case management and counseling.
  • Ability to work within a fast paced and multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of societal issues and underlying health problems in the Aboriginal community, for example the intergenerational effects of the post-colonial and residential school experiences.
  • Computer literacy including skill with word processing, presentations and electronic charting software.
  • Ability to function independently and within established parameters.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal language and culture is an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License is a requirement.
