To support Amec Foster Wheelers growth, we are currently seeking an Environmental & Geotechnical Technician in our Montreal office. The Technician will report to the Team Leads of both the Environmental and the Geotechnical departments, and play a key role in the successful completion of projects. A self-motivated individual, who enjoys working on site, on a variety of projects will thrive in this environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Environmental and Geotechnical investigations on sites
  • Carry out field work in the context of environmental site assessments Phase II / rehabilitation sites
  • Carry out fieldwork in control of materials (soil, concrete and asphalt) and under the supervision of senior staff, recommend solutions, propose amendments to the technical problems encountered
  • Perform laboratory tests (control of materials, geotechnical)
  • Write administrative and technical environmental and geotechnical reports, ensuring deadlines and estimates for the work are met
  • As part of the technical evaluation, you will be required to go to site and may be required to work outside normal hours of employment, including nights and weekends
  • Resolve technical issues relating to your technical discipline (and support the resolutions for other disciplines), customers and other stakeholders
  • Assist in the preparation of technical service offers
  • Work with people from different offices, regions and divisions dedicated to the success of Amec Foster Wheeler
  • Provide excellent customer service and a commitment to technical excellence
  • Other duties as assigned


  • A recognized Technical Diploma in Civil or Environmental engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of various testing processes for soil, concrete and other field tests
  • Well organized, with the ability to work independently and handle pressure
  • Strong communications skills in French (Bilingualism an asset) with excellent technical writing skill
  • Solid computer skills is in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Drivers License, and the ability to travel to sites as needed
  • ASP Construction card
