Monday-Thursday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm – 1/2 hour lunch and Friday – 7:00 am to 1:00 pm – no lunch

Position Description:

In close cooperation with the Manager of QA/QC, provide support related to WPS/PQR development, NDT, Quality Control administration and documentation, and code and client specification adherence and interpretation. In addition, provide support for the Operations and Engineering Groups of Altex (Shop and Field) related to welding and materials. New trends and technological advances related to welding and NDT operations are also part of this position – in close cooperation with the Manager of Operations and the Manager of QC/QA.

Major Areas of Responsibilities :

- Administrative and operational execution of welding technology, related to processes, advances, consumables, testing, training etc.…

Primary Objectives:

- Support the operational, Engineering, and Quality Control needs of the company related to development of new WPS’s/PQR’s.

- Interpretation of client requirements and development of plans to meet these expectations (mockups, testing etc.…).

- Development and maintenance of all existing welding processes.

- Research new technologies and make recommendations to management related to this (new equipment, new processes, new consumables etc.…)

- Maintain and refine the database of existing Altex WPS’s/PQR’s

- Develop and maintain Altex NDE related to welding. New process’s to be considered (Charpy V Notch testing, weld sectioning/etching/examination, tensile testing).

- Assist the operations in training on existing and new weld techniques, processes, procedures

- Use experience and knowledge to make decisions and problem solve.

- Developing and maintaining positive client relationships

- Work closely with Altex HSE to develop, maintain and revise as required, all mechanical JHA’s and SWP’s.

- Schedule regular site visits (field) to support field operations related to welding.

- Analyze client needs and communicate those needs to departmental Managers.

- Respond decisively and quickly to emerging opportunities or risks.

- Implement strategies to achieve operational efficiencies and value for money.

- Seek out or provide advice to departmental managers.

Required Skills and Abilities:

- Preference to individual that has a welding background

Physical Demands:

- Mostly work in the Office with some travel to sites

- Weight handling – up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Education/Certification and Experience:

- Diploma in a 2 year technical program from a Post Secondary Institute related to welding such as Materials Engineering Technology or Welding Engineering Technology.

Work Environment:

- Office setting

- Required to travel to work sites

Rate: $25 per hour
