The Application Engineer will provide front level application support for the sale and use of automation products and digital control systems of select electric utility and Industrial accounts in order to support profitable growth of the business within financial objectives and constraints. Act as the lead technical liaison between Customer and our European manufacturing sites for joint R&D projects.
This position is also responsible for:
1-Front level application engineering support, key customer contact for technical issues
2-Secondary customer contact for commercial interactions
3-Provide technical application support to customers with for pre and post-sale situations
4-Provide technical presentation so protection/control products, relay applications and digital control systems
5-Responsible for the technical interface between Customer/ALSTOM for joint R&D developments in the protection and control domain
6-Support tendering organisation in the technical selection of suitable products/solutions and evaluation of technical proposals
7-Perform fault calculations, problem identification and resolution as appropriate
8-Support the development of innovative strategies to build ALSTOM market position
9-Maintain and consistently develop knowledge on ALSTOM Automation products with the support of the organisation
10-Increase knowledge of competitive products monitor competitive activity
11-Develop and maintain contact with other Key product lines to support Substation Automation growth (Network Management, Circuit Breaker, Instrument Transformers and Turnkey Solutions)
12-Full compliance with ALSTOM Value Charter
13-Requires Travel of 25% of the time, Regular domestic travel to support local Customer
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
Minimum Bachelor of Engineering or Equivalent
Fluent French and English language is mandatory
10 years experience with Protection and Control (P&C) devices, applications and testing.
Understanding of automation communication protocols used for P&C applications.
Experience with ALSTOM digital control system design, configuration, commissioning and operation.
Experience interfacing with R&D organisations
Comprehensive experience with relay test equipment (Eg. Omicron, Doble, Manta) for secondary injection testing/demonstration.
Understanding of technical sales, value proposition and customer benefit presentation.
Understanding of typical electrical utility buying process
Strong presentation and customer relationship skills
Experience interfacing with various customer buying centres and manufacturers’ representatives
Fluent in MS Word, Excel, Power Point
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
Experience with ALSTOM, SEL, GE products preferred.
Experience with other products vendors beneficial.
