We are recruiting part-time professors for potential opportunities within the Nonprofit Sector Management graduate certificate program. These part-time professor positions require the incumbent to deliver 60 to 90 hour courses to diverse program students. Responsibilities will include course preparation, delivery and assessment of student work in accordance with College policies.

The program description follows:

This one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program provides students with the skills and competencies necessary to work in nonprofit organizations.

Students learn strategic planning, human resources, volunteer management, marketing and communications, legal and ethical issues, governance, program planning and evaluation, advocacy and governmental relations, financial management, technology, resource development and risk management.

The program of study focuses on student-centered learning while working in a technology-enhanced environment. Students prepare various assignments using laptop computers in the classroom which enhances the collaborative learning environment.

This graduate certificate will appeal to working professionals who are in the nonprofit sector or who are pursuing a career in the sector. Employment opportunities exist in a variety of nonprofit organizations, such as charities, foundations and professional associations.

We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals with a passion for the nonprofit sector to facilitate learning in this area.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management or a related discipline/field. Graduate degree preferred;
  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience related to the field of study;
  • Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills;
  • Previous teaching experience an asset;
  • Knowledge and previous experience in the use of educational technologies is considered an asset;
  • Experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum is considered an asset;
  • Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills;
  • Comfortable with the use of computer and educational technologies to align with the teaching competencies as set out in the Professor of the 21st Century document on: http://www.algonquincollege.com/profres/ ;
  • Evidence of commitment to the success of all learners.
