As a Instrument Technician II, you will plan, assemble, install, inspect, repair, and service building control, automation and mechanical systems. You will perform highly skilled maintenance and repair complex building systems and equipment. In addition, you will perform duties related to construction and renovation projects.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Instrumentation or Electrician Journeyperson Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of grade 12 education or equivalent. Must possess an Alberta Instrumentation or Electrician Journeyman Certificate with related formal BMS, PCM and PLC training and related experience. Equivalent education, training and experience. Seasoned/Specialized technical/professional experience required (i.e. 5-7 years). Minimum 4 years’ experience in maintenance, programming, repair, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of BMS systems, instrumentation and control systems related to HVAC systems in industrial and institutional facilities. Specification, installation, commissioning and testing of instrumentation pertaining to HVAC systems. Testing, calibration and repair of instrumentation, controls and associated systems. Programming and calibrating computerized control systems including BMS, PCM and PLC. Troubleshooting and analytical skills related to instrumentation and associated systems. Understanding of building mechanical, HVAC, electrical systems and equipment and associated instrumentation and controls. Familiar with energy conservation and HVAC systems air balancing procedures. Familiarity with basic air quality analysis procedures. Competent computer skills. Writing reports.

An Alberta Journey Person Certificate in a related trade is an asset.
