Under limited supervision performs routine food services tasks, keeping food safety, quality and customer service in focus to support a quality client experience. Portions and serves food according to food safety and prescribed diet/allergy for individual patients/residents. Offers choices at point of service to patients/customers according to prescribed diet/allergy. Completes food preparation according to defined procedures. Cleans and sanitizes equipment, dishes, tables and serving areas following prescribed work procedures to ensure patient/resident safety. Provides Patient meal delivery and pick up. Monitors and records identified criteria to ensure client and product safety and participates in departmental meetings. Completes cash handling duties including cash reconciliation as required.

Qualifications:

• Grade 10 or equivalent is required.
• Work related experience in institutional food services/restaurant setting is preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language; competency test may be required.
• Must possess simple arithmetic skills.
• Must possess motor coordination and dexterity.
• Must maintain a high level of personal hygiene.
• Capable of working in a fast paced environment.
• Physically fit and able to withstand moderate to heavy exertion.
• Must have excellent attendance record, reliability, and work effectively as part of a team. These must be demonstrated through employment records and references.
• Food Safety training is an asset.
• Customer service training/experience is an asset.
• Must be physically able to lift / transfer food, supplies and equipment up to 30lbs.
• Must be able to push / pull meal service equipment up to 250lbs.
