Under general supervision, the Environmental II performs a variety of cleaning and housekeeping duties. These duties range from light dusting to heavy cleaning all surface areas, including walls, ceilings, vents, mirrors, windows, door and light fixtures throughout the site. This position performs floor maintenance duties including dry and wet mopping, floor scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and shampooing with the use of manual and power cleaning equipment. The Environmental II worker ensures that adequate supplies in patient care, offices, and staff areas are available. The transportation and arranging of heavy furniture and equipment using dollies, carts, or manually may be required to perform these duties. This position will comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and other safety and infection control regulations, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum Grade 10 required
General knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods required
Good interpersonal skills required
Successful completion of a basic housekeeping program is an asset
Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format
Frequent physical demands include ability to stand for long periods, walking, bending, climbing ladders, mopping, use of power cleaning equipment and be capable of lifting 25-50 pounds on a regular basis
