Alberta Health Services EMS requires Emergency Medical Responders to provide Emergency Medical response services. The staff EMR provides a variety of out-of-hospital and in-hospital services. Projecting a positive, caring image, he/she will provide the utmost in patient care, medical transportation, health promotion/injury prevention and daily duties. The staff EMR will provide these services under limited supervision, in accordance with designated medical control guidelines, Alberta Health Services policies and procedures, the Health Disciplines Act of Alberta and the Ambulance Services Act of Alberta. This position requires the ability to lift and move patients and equipment.


Required Qualifications:
– Actively registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).
– EMR Certificate/Diploma from an ACOP accredited Program.
– Demonstrated experience in a Basic life support ground ambulance service.
– Demonstrated functional knowledge and abilities with computer operations and windows applications.
– Candidates must possess a valid class 4 Alberta Operators License or equivalent with no more than six (6) demerits.
– A driver’s abstract must be submitted at time of application, dated no more than 30 days from date of application.
– Must have acquired AHS immunizations within the first ninety (90) days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience working in a health care facility or in a health integration project within EMS.
– Additional Education & Training in a related field or additional education such as a diploma or a degree.
– Experience with an AHS or related organization, participating in committee or project work.

– Computer skills required. Ability to access and proficiently use Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
