The incumbent supports and participates in the conduct of evaluation and research studies. Under the direction of the Manager of the Shared Mental Health Care Program, the Clerk II responds to research requests, provides information and assistance on research methods, funding opportunities and assists in preparation of research and evaluation projects for submission to granting agencies.

This position will also assist in (but is not limited to) all phases of implementing the ongoing Adult Shared Mental Health Care program evaluation projects. This individual must demonstrate the ability to conduct literature reviews; develop organizational systems, processes and coordinate evaluation procedures; assemble evaluation packages; train stakeholders (family physicians, clinicians, psychiatrists) on evaluation procedures; assess and refine existing measures; assist in soliciting stakeholder participation; assist in choice and development of new measures; assist in development and management of a statistical database; assist in preliminary statistical analysis; follow-up with stakeholders to ensure evaluation packages are complete – ensure follow-up evaluation is complete with the correct patients; assist in master list coding; and collect evaluation packages. The incumbent will work with the Co-leads and the Manager of Shared Mental Health Care program to implement marketing strategies to develop a system to disseminate evaluation packages and information about the project’s progress and evaluation results to management.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in (or in progress) Social Science, Psychology, or Social Work
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team are required
  • Thorough knowledge of research methodology, statistical analysis, the health care sector and related socio-economic issues
  • Organizational and analytical skills to support ongoing program evaluation and monitoring and information issues
  • Excellent planning skills to assist with program evaluation
  • Experience using data entry and extraction and reporting tools for data analysis and decision support
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to develop and present papers and reports to senior management, to maintain working relationships with clients, and to prepare complex technical reports and recommendations on policy, and programs
  • Extensive knowledge of the Shared Mental Care Program’s function as well as its collaborating strategies, policies, reforms and mandate
  • Research design and proposal writing experience
  • Experience in data management and statistical analysis
  • Experience with report preparation and presentation
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Ability to work successfully within a defined timeframe
  • Advanced data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Proficiency in SPSS, EXCEL, Microsoft WORD, Reference Manager
  • Strong computer skills are necessary
  • Resourceful, energetic, self-directed and creative
  • Strong library skills
  • Excellent written and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Previous experience in providing mental healthcare in a community setting is preferred
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Service Delivery is a definite asset
  • Knowledge of the Shared Mental Care Program’s function as well as its collaborating strategies, policies, reforms and mandate
  • Possession of valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is a requirement of the position and condition of employment as travel is required within the Region
