Who we are
Ajah is a leader in technology and information for the Canadian non-profit sector. We develop commercial software services for Canadian charities, as well as work on other projects dealing with information management, data, and technology. By joining our team, you’ll have the opportunity to work at a dynamic startup helping charities across Canada.
And, you’ll get lunch everyday, on us.

Ajah’s smart-before-experience-policy: who we’re looking for
We LOVE people who take initiative, learn from their mistakes, and bring great ideas to the table. We believe those talents can be more important than relevant education or extensive experience, so:
Smart, talented drop-outs welcome!
We’re looking for someone fun and, above all resourceful. The most important thing is that you can learn quickly and like figuring stuff out yourself. We know that GPA isn’t the only indicator of intelligence, so anyone who is smart and motivated should apply.

Over the course of this position, you will have the opportunity to learn about and gain experience in international development projects, information architecture & technology, knowledge management – and a lot of other stuff. Personal development is also important for us: we look for ways to advance the career goals of the people we hire.

What you’ll be doing:
Part of our work is helping large non-profit organizations make better use of their internal data and technology – to answer important questions, share and use knowledge, and evaluate the impact of their work.

With our help, you’ll be responsible for researching and analyzing the project reports and materials of one of our key clients. This organization is one of the largest in Canada (maybe even the world) working on international development. The project focuses on helping our client better organize their information and data, in order for them to learn more about what works best and make more strategic decisions. You will be transferring their collected qualitative data into an organized dataset that we will be continuously working to optimize.

Your responsibilities:

  • Reading and analyzing fieldwork documents, project materials, and reports for major international development projects
  • Analyzing those documents, identifying key information, and transforming it into manageable data
  • Logging that information in a database for our client – one of the world’s largest international development foundations
  • Learning about everything related to this project: non-profits, international development, technology, data, knowledge management, research, open data, project management – and more.
  • Enjoying the lunches we provide!

Your skills:

  • Strong research and analytic skills with an eye for detail
  • Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal)
  • Adept at respecting timelines and working with databases
  • A natural inquisitiveness (learning by Googling is a required skill)
  • A team player, as well as a comfortable working autonomously
  • Learning from mistakes (you’ll make some – we make them too – but not repeating them is what’s important)

To apply:
If you’re interested, just send us your CV and cover letter briefly telling us why you think we should hire you.
At Ajah we recognize the unique contributions that individuals from marginalized communities bring to our organization. We encourage applications from women, POC, those living with disabilities, and trans folks. Please indicate in your cover letter if you would like to be considered for Employment Equity.
