Providing technical assistance during contractor environmental review meetings, when appropriate, and maintaining records of those meetings….

Scope of Work

Providing environmental engineering expertise in support of project design components, specification preparation, and technical evaluation

Providing environmental engineering expertise in the areas of site grading and development, erosion and sedimentation controls, site stabilization and rehabilitation.

Fuel storage and pollution prevention measures.

Developing, updating and implementing plans for the transmission components.

Providing assistance to project management, construction contractors and environmental coordinators, in the implementation of the Project Environment Management Program for construction of the transmission components.

Planning, implementing and coordinating the Project Environmental Program to reduce and eliminate incidents that may result in the environmental damage and resultant financial loss.

Conducting regular audits of the regulatory and environmental management plans (policies, standards, work practices and procedures) and issuing audit reports.This includes monitoring, close-out report

Recommendations and informing the Environment and Regulatory Compliance Manager and Environmental Coordinators whenever revisions to the project environmental plans are required.

Maintaining a good working knowledge of current regulations, codes, and industry best practices, and acting as a resource to project through the Environment and Regulatory Compliance Manager.

Liaising with the Site Environmental Manager with respect to monitoring the project site, undertaking environmental inspection and reporting and following up as needed.All environmental incidents are to be reported, assessed and communicated to all parties involved.

Updating the non-conformance register with non-conformances and spills.

Implementation of each contractor’s work procedures and ensuring that those procedures are in line with site specific environmental protection plans.

Reviewing project schedule to ensure all permits are obtained by the date required.

Providing technical assistance during contractor environmental review meetings, when appropriate, and maintaining records of those meetings.

Review technical specifications, drawings, design criteria, studies and other technical documents to ensure environmental requirements and commitments are included.

Monitoring the implementation of mitigative measures resulting from investigations and conducting periodic follow-up; maintaining a tracking system for follow-up.

Providing guidance to the Environment and Regulatory Compliance Manager, through interpretation of Environmental Management Plan Practices and procedures and applicable regulations and standards as required.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Engineering, or Master of Applied Science in Engineering.

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
10 years of related experience.

Knowledge of Newfoundland Environment Codes of Practice, Laws and Regulations.

Experience on Construction projects.
