This position will be primarily responsible for project-based work scope, with some recurrent tasks. The individual will have ownership of the financial evaluation of projects from beginning to end and be involved with senior management and/or executive discussions when required.
Develop a strong understanding of all cost areas related to the airline’s operations, as well as overall airline strategy.
Develop complex financial models and act as Finance representative in support of senior management in key decisions related to the airline.
Assist the Manager with various financial evaluations, which vary in size and scope.
Assist the Labour Relations department in the development of labour negotiation strategies aligned with the Corporation overall financial plan.
Participate in the labour negotiations when they occur.
Perform financial evaluations with respect to labour expenses as a result of the collective agreement.
Perform a monthly KPI report for the Operation Branch.
Perform quarterly benchmark analysis to compare Air Canada’s financial and operating performance with other major airlines.
Ensure a consistently high-level of quality in service provided relative to both timeliness and accuracy.
Undergraduate degree in Finance with 2 years of relevant experience.
Graduate studies (MBA in Finance) and/ or an accounting designation (CMA/CGA /CFA would be a definite asset).
Flexible work schedule and ability to handle numerous and varied projects simultaneously.
Keen interest and experience in the airline industry.
Very strong business and analytical skills.
Excellent understanding of cost accounting principles, financial evaluation techniques and statistical analysis
Strong sense of initiative and work ethic.
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others.
Strong organizational skills and ability to shift priorities and work under pressure.
High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office. In particular, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
