As a member of the Data Services team, the Data Analyst participates in the development, implementation and facilitation of data quality processes, data quality metrics and data quality controls for existing and new applications (Eagle Pace application, Simcorp Dimension, Calypso and Charles River).
This position will be responsible for providing analytical and technical support for comprehensive data management services. Other responsibilities will include:
Identifies areas for data quality improvement and initiate actions to troubleshoot errors and exceptions that impact quality and availability of data within the key data systems.
Plan, design and testing of processes ensuring data quality and effective workflow in operations.
Manage the gathering, documentation and implementation of user requirements and procedures covering various tasks, including but not limited to, investment data capture, transformation, extraction and reporting.
Support data maintenance of security master and reference data to meet all daily operational control requirements.
Completes data enrichment as required to ensure complete and accurate data for dissemination to downstream systems including investigation and research of market data source information.
Identifies areas for data quality improvements and presents solutions with recommendations to data problems and approaches to mitigate risk.
Our Ideal Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or related fields.
Understanding of financial markets, market data or trading life cycle is an asset.
Independent learner with ability to think beyond basic concepts, resolve issues and meet strict timelines.
Ability to perform root cause analysis involving detail-oriented, analytical problem solving and research skills being able to identify inconsistencies.
Strong technical background with a drive to initiate and develop solutions that link business and technology requirements.
An understanding of relational databases used to store detailed investment information, including ability to grasp complex workflows, interdependencies between systems, data attributes and the data used by various groups.
Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment with superior organizational skills and work ethic to handle high volumes while maintaining efficiency and complying with stated controls.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in SQL, C++, Python, Java, XML and MS Suite; Excel, Access, Visio is desired.
Experience in database technology and such systems as Eagle Pace, Calypso and Simcorp Dimensions is an asset.
NOTE: Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening, which includes a credit bureau and a criminal record investigation, the results of which must be acceptable to AIMCo.
