Communications Officer

Reporting to the Associate Director, Communications, the Communications Officer is responsible for contributing to and implementing external communications strategies and targeted communication plans in support of the AGO’s priorities as outlined in our Strategic Plan. The Communications Officer will provide traditional and online communications materials for all platforms and media.

We’re looking for someone who has a university degree or college diploma in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations and a minimum of 4 years of directly related public relations experience. A thorough knowledge of arts media including television, radio, print and online is required.

You’ll need to have demonstrated experience developing and cultivating relationships with local, national and international media, and well-developed public relations, interpersonal and organizational skills. You must have exceptional writing and verbal communication skills and extensive knowledge of Canadian Press Style, in addition to demonstrated creativity and imagination in writing and pitching.

You’ll need to have an aptitude for technology, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office platforms, comfort and experience working with content management, mail database systems, social media platforms and directly related experience in web-based research. A true self-starter, you show initiative and have a general knowledge of Gallery programs and exhibitions.
