Camp Director, AGO Art Camps

Temporary part-time
Up to 35 hours per week: no entitlement to overtime. Flexible hours to accommodate early mornings/evenings around camp hours. Part time hours starting in spring, move to full time in May/June to September

The Art Gallery of Ontario is currently searching for a creative, collaborative and highly organized Camp Director, AGO Art Camps to join the Public Programming and Learning team for a temporary position.

Under the direction of the Manager, Studio & Group Learning, you would be responsible for developing and managing the processes, logistics, training, scheduling, counselor programming and communications for all AGO day camp activities and programs. The successful candidate will oversee and envision a comprehensive program for the summer while providing daily, hands-on oversight of all operations.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.A. in Child Psychology, Social Work, Education, Museum Studies or a related field or equivalent experience with undergraduate with a degree in one of the disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years directly related experience in a similar role in a camp or school environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supervising staff and groups of children ages 5-12 in indoor/outdoor camps or educational environments.
  • Minimum 3 years directly related experience in training and program development; implementation and evaluation for children’s programming.
  • Ability to set objectives, delegate and prioritize workflow so that goals are met.
  • Well-developed organizational, interpersonal, communications and administrative skills. Including experience working with parents to troubleshoot issues and concerns.
  • Demonstrated computer competency skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to handle situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Demonstrated group facilitation and conflict resolution skills
