We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, people-oriented Spectroscopy Product Specialist. In this position you will be on a team of product specialists supporting Agilent’s Canadian Laboratory Solution Sales atomic and molecular Spectroscopy business. In this position you will sell analytical instrumentation and develop a professional sales relationship with customers; focusing on selling Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Ultraviolet-visible (UV), Fluorescence, as well as Atomic Absorption (AA), Microwave Plasma (MP-AES), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP-OES), Supplies and Service products to all application markets in Canada. These and others duties will be performed in an assigned territory with moderate supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
– Providing pre-sales technical and application support to internal and external sales team members in competitive sales situations.
– Running samples and demonstrations for prospective customers using Agilent’s Spectroscopy products.
– Preparing and presenting technical presentations and seminars to potential customers.
– Providing phone and on-site post-sales technical and applications support to Agilent’s molecular and atomic spectroscopy user base.
– Manage, drive and grow Agilent’s Spectroscopy Business across Canada.

Additional responsibilities:
– Contributing in the development of new applications and application publications highlighting Agilent’s atomic spectroscopy platforms.
– Working with Agilent’s Spectroscopy Product Specialists in the development of technical sales strategies for market share gains.
– Promoting Agilent’s molecular and atomic spectroscopy platforms and aiding in the training of the Canadian sales force.
– Providing reports on activities and technical trends observed in the field to Product and Field Marketing on a regular basis.
– Territory planning; provide reports on business and market activities; and manage key territory accounts for assigned territory.
– Presenting Molecular and Atomic Spectroscopy information at conferences, seminars and e-seminars
– Maintain positive ongoing long-term relationships with key customers.
These and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
– BS/MS/PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or equivalent thesis or experience, Post-graduate experience preferred.
– 2+ years experience of operating an FTIR, UV, Fluorescence, AA, MP-AES, ICP-MS and/or ICP-OES.
– Familiarity with all major applications for these techniques, including market trends.
– Bilingual, French and English written and spoken would be an asset.
– Previous lab experience (2-5 years) running or servicing analytical instrumentation highly desirable.
– Hands-on experience performing analytical experiments such as metals analysis at ultra trace levels, taking appropriate care to avoid contamination as specified under U.S. EPA, USP and other accepted methodologies; or experience in running FTIR and UV-Vis experiments/demonstrations.
– Environmental/semiconductor/biological/pharmaceutical FTIR, UV, Fluorescence, AA, MP-AES, ICP-MS and/or ICP-OES application experience is desirable to provide technical support to these industries in North America.
– Strong computer skills and excellent technical written and oral presentation skills are essential.
– Must be a good team player, able to work collaboratively on projects and sales opportunities.
– Strong project management experience and skills, able to meet deadlines while handling several different projects simultaneously.
– Available for flexible work schedule and up to 50% business travel.

Strong preference for this position to be located in Mississauga, Ontario; possibility for being located in Montreal Quebec.
