This is for a 3 month full-time opportunity.

Internally referred to as a Systems Engineer Assistant. Under the general guidance and direction of the Director of IT, the position is responsible for assisting with maintaining the computer systems of AFL Canada, ensuring they run smoothly and assist with providing technical support and advice to computer users

Responsibilities

Provide support to users in regards to software applications and hardware including workstations, computers, notebooks, servers, and printers;

Assist with installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners, maintaining and updating new or existing hardware and software for workstation PCs, notebooks, printers, and peripherals;

Assist with new user setups, including Station Installs, User Creation, E-Mail Setup, Phone Setup;

Assist with repairing equipment and replacing parts;

Ensure timely resolution for IT problems;

Conduct computer electrical safety checks;

Work with all levels in the company across multiple provinces and head office;

Troubleshoot system startup and user logon problems, connection to local and WiFi network to desktop work stations and printers;

Help build and maintain positive relations;

Protect organizations’ values by keeping information confidential;

Perform other administrative and miscellaneous duties as requested, directed or assigned;

Enhance organizational reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment; and

Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.

Qualifications

Minimum 2+ years’ experience as Desktop Support professional in office settings

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows software

Ability to maintain internet services, as well as the telecommunication network and databases

Experience with Citrix XenApp and Receiver an asset

Experience with Avaya IPOffice an asset

Working Conditions

Normal office environment

General hours of work: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm
