A company in the Burnaby area is currently looking for a purchasing clerk to join their team. The purchasing clerk will be join as a “clerk 5″ and be apart of their casual pool. Clerks in the Casual Pool will float around different Centers of Excellence and working on different teams.

Requirements:

They will consider candidates from various backgrounds, as long as they have a strong understanding of supply chain. However, all candidates must have 2+ years of prior work experience (this could even be cashier work.)

If they do not have prior work experience in purchasing, then formal education in supply chain is required. Completion of a supply chain program is a strong asset (BCIT/Kwantlen etc.)
Foreign experience/education is valid.

-2+ years of prior work experience
-experience in procurement (either working or education)
-previous experience working in a public sector is an asset
-strong verbal and written communication skills
-flexibility is important because they will be moving around different teams

-willingness to learn
-detail oriented

Job Duties:
-order supplies, equipment and services using computerized procurement systems and software applications to administer direct, standing, contract and repair/service orders
-receive/process requisitions
-check accuracy of department and account coding
-determine price and availability from vendors
-investigate/resolve back orders and delivery issues
-coordinate/arrange service repairs
-resolve invoice and receiving discrepancies , process product return/substitution documentation, trace shipments
-assist contract sourcing by reviewing contract data to identify opportunities for consolidation, engage suppliers on contract extension,
-under direction of buyer, assists in reviewing responses to competitive bids by recording and summarizing responses and presents initial data analysis to buyer for review and approval
-liaise with customers to identify requirements, determine source of supply and availability of goods, obtain vendor quotes, provide product and contract details, arrange approved product demonstrations with suppliers and vendors
-perform clerical duties like data pulls, review data to ensure accuracy, enter item info/prices/product description in sourcing process and presenting data
-respond to inquiries
-reconciling invoices, contacting suppliers to arrange adjustments to invoices or modifications to original orders
-draft sourcing documents and conduct related research/documentation
-assist buyers and leads in accordance with sourcing process
