AECOM is seeking an Environmental Auditor to be based in Burnaby BC. This individual will be responsible for auditing the implementation of prevention and mitigation measures required to minimize environmental impacts and for consolidating evidence of compliance of all applicable environmental laws, norms and regulations, including fulfillment of all environmental terms & conditions stated in the EIA authorization and other relevant permits.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify environmental significance aspects
  • Identify programs, projects, policies or actions towards adequate risk and contamination prevention and management
  • Develop an execution plan to comply with audit programs
  • Daily on-site auditing of the contractor’s environmental activities throughout the construction, commissioning and start of production phases with focus on compliance requirements
  • Work in close coordination and under supervision of client’s environmental leader
  • Support environmental compliance with the CEMP
  • Seek support for Program compliance with Client and AECOM leaders, and environmental representatives from the contractors
  • Attend environmental and construction meetings with client’s representatives
  • Receive and review contractor’s reports in compliance with the Clean Industry execution plan and according to their environmental contractual obligations
  • Coordinate third party clean industry audits
  • Attend PROFEPAs site inspections and relevant requests
  • Recommend corrective actions on project activities
  • Prepare and implement program punch-lists to assure all requested environmental activities and deliverables have been fulfilled by each contractor on each phase of the project

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, biology, chemistry or architecture
  • 8+ years of experience in environmental compliance activities with the program requirements on manufacturing industrial sites
  • Proficiency in the English Language
  • Sound knowledge of environmental laws and regulations
  • 5+ years of experience on execution of environmental compliance activities on construction projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialization or Master’s degree in environmental science or related field
