AdvanTec’s Industrial Division, Advance Flow Systems, is seeking a Junior Project Manager to join our team in Maple Ridge, BC. As a Junior PM with AdvanTec, you will be involved in all aspects of Project Management from setting scope, defining project budget and creating and tracking the project timeline.

As a Junior Project Manager, you will manage approximately 6 projects at a time that will vary in product, client and size. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career from assisting a Project Manager and wanting to take on projects themselves.

Essential Functions for this role are:

Client Project Management (90%)

  • Manages customer relationships, together with Sales, and drive projects through to completion with the goal of ensuring customer satisfaction and retention while maintaining project budget
  • Develops and controls project schedule and deliverables through project planning, execution and communication
  • Ensures scope of work is well defined and understood by both internal and external stakeholders
  • Manages risks and their impact and creates awareness of risks with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manages the project to defined plan, ensuring sign-offs and customer approvals as needed and detailed documentation of all agreements, disagreements, changes and issues
  • Reviews and organizes project documentation and coordinates with Quality Assurance and Document Control to meet ISO Standards and customer requirements
  • Tracks project milestones, progress payments and costs and reports them against budget
  • Assists inter-disciplinary team members in the scheduling of project tasks and finds appropriate resolutions to identified issues
  • Schedules meetings, documents and distributes meeting minutes to the team and to customers
  • Manages subcontractors and vendors, and monitors their scope and schedule
  • Manages Change Orders and Engineering Change notices with customer and internal stakeholders such as Estimating, Scheduling, Production, and Quality Assurance) including clear scope and follow-through to execution and billing
  • Investigates budget overruns and shortfalls, summarizes and presents findings to internal stakeholders and Management
  • Responsible for providing project status and progress updates including details on issues and their resolution to management
  • Develops comprehensive project completion reports (“lessons learned”) to avoid errors, inefficiencies and other issues in future projects

Internal Project Management (10%)

  • Assists in the delivery of other internal activities such as new system implementation and process and/or customer audit
  • Leads and/or participates in process improvement and other internal projects

If you have the following skills, then we want to hear from you!

  • Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Technical
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a Project Coordinator or Project Manager within a heavy industry, construction, or manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Generator Building Packaging experience or Electrical Packaging
  • Currently pursuing or willing to pursue PMP certification
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Project, Word and Excel
  • Strong understanding of business, data, process, cultures, and people
  • Ability to see the big picture while not losing focus of the small details
  • Superior documentation skills including creating detailed records and history of events with proof (i.e. pictures, emails, receipts of delivery etc.)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills abilities, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with cross-functional teams and external parties
  • Strong work ethic, positive energy and a take-charge attitude while remaining humble and cooperative
  • Superior time-management and organizational abilities, with a strong ability to set and follow priorities
  • Strong sense of ownership and urgency with an ability to understand the importance of others’ requirements
  • High ability to work independently, with an awareness of when to escalate a decision and ask for help
  • Appreciation of feedback and constructive comments based in a desire to improve and impress the customer
  • Proven ability to maintain composure under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced and , dynamic environment
