Reporting to the Associate Director, Distribution and Supply Management, the Specialist, Planning & Scheduling is responsible for demand planning, supply management and product launches/changes requirements for an assigned product portfolio. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring proper documentation of all relevant processes related to the planning process in SAP
  • Working in collaboration with other local planners and product managers to ensure the needs of the business are met.
  • Participate in the conversion of the sales forecasts to unit production forecasts for monthly submissions to the Manufacturing sites and 3rd party suppliers.
  • Ensuring that product supply requirements are met while achieving desired inventory and customer service levels.
  • Coordinating efforts to resolve any potential supply problems.
  • Support product launches from a supply perspective to optimize product availability
  • Proactively and continuously improving processes to optimize our operations and resources.

The Specialist, Planning & Scheduling collaborates with multiple internal and external stakeholders including Finance, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Distribution, Logistics, Transport, 3rd party warehouse provider, Regional HUBs, Legal, Medical Affairs, etc.

The Specialist, Planning & Scheduling is responsible to demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with all appropriate law/regulatory requirements and industry practices & standards and will complete his/her tasks in accordance to Merck’s commitment to our Values, Standards, Leadership behaviors, policies & procedures.

Skills & Competencies

  • Very high attention to details with ability to rapidly manipulate large amounts of data, accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent computer & systems skills (Advanced Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Project). Knowledge of sales forecasting tools and/or planning in SAP environment would be an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with ability to organize, integrate and evaluate information from different sources, reach logical conclusions and articulate pros & cons.
  • Strong organizational, project management and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, both individually and within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to interact and communicate clearly and effectively (both oral and written skills) to all levels of management.
  • Ability to work and co-operate in a variety of cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work successfully with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.

Education/Experience/Language

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with a preference in Business or Science. APICS certification would be an asset.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of related work experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry in the areas of forecasting/planning/analytics.
  • Experience working in SAP and/or GMP environment would be an asset.
  • Language requirements: Bilingual (French & English).
