Position Overview:
The right candidate will have a combination of talent and technical skills to manage the design of entire projects and the ability to work closely with clients in a Project Lead role

Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision

Demonstrated competence in a leadership role on a production team

Detail oriented and a passion for exceeding expectations

Capable of translating design intent into construction detailing

Capable of taking a project from beginning to end with little supervision

Capable of managing a variety of projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities:
The ability to take on a production role preparing design documents under the direction of the principal designer

Under the direction of principal designer, assist in the preparation of Construction drawings, including plan/elevations, preparing details from sketches, development permit drawings and construction documents including specifications

Assist Principal Designer in day-to-day managerial and administrative tasks

Preparation of presentation materials using Revit, Photoshop &/or Sketch-Up

Production Team Leader, overseeing quality of work, fee compliance, schedule and coordination with external design consultants

Ability to research materials, technical details through library and manufacturers

Conduct research on products & sustainable solutions may be required

Assist in review of shop drawings

Conduct field review inspections on construction sites

Attend planning meetings, submit applications and coordinate municipal authorities

Participate in architectural lunch and learn sessions and various other company events.

Requirements:
Speak English, read English, write English. Speaking Mandarin & Cantonese an asset

Building Science/Architectural Technology diploma (min 2-year program) or University degree in Architecture or Architectural Science required

Minimum 1-5 years of experience within an architectural firm

A valid driver’s license and bondable

Proficiency in AutoDesk REVIT & Photoshop with the ability to mentor others as required

Construction documentation experience, including coordination and creation of working drawings

Working knowledge of construction specifications

Ability to coordinate with consultants’ documents

Must work well as a team leader, team member and be a self-starter

Knowledge and experience with VBBL and BC Building Code required

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Autodesk and Adobe software

Great communication skills

LEED accreditation an asset.
