Position Summary: The Research and Policy Educator will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of ActionDignity’s public policy and systems change strategies and research/education agenda. The incumbent will assist ActionDignity’s Board through its Research and Policy Committee in conducting research towards developing the organization’s policy and systems change agenda in accordance with ActionDignity’s mission and priorities. This position will develop and implement plans for government relations, including dialogues between community leaders/ members with decision makers. The Research and Policy Educator will be tasked with reviewing and producing research and policy materials to ensure they remain relevant and pro-active as well as provide support and relevant research and policy assistance to other key programs within the organization. This is a part-time position of 30 hours per week, that comes with a benefit package and requires occasional flexible time commitment. Start Date: ASAP; End Date: March 31, 2019 (Renewable annually for three consecutive years and subject to availability of funds) The Research and Policy Educator will report to the Executive Director and is expected to provide support to ActionDignity’s Research and Policy Committee of the Board. • Support the development of internal and external strategy development through research, facilitation and project management – including but not limited to enriching the ethno-cultural broker model and the community development social platform model of ActionDignity • Engage in project management, proactively managing changes in project scope and designing related programs and proposals • Support the dissemination of knowledge to a wide variety of audiences, through the preparation of research, briefs, reports, marketing materials, media materials and other modes of communication, including social media, public education and capacity building workshops for ethno-cultural community members. • Prepare analytical reports and statements on policy for dialogues, presentations, public statements, publications and media coverage. • Work with ActionDignity staff and community members to obtain community input and to engage the community in ActionDignity’s systems and policy change work • Participate in staff and agency activities as required Experience and Skills: • Masters’ degree in a relevant social science discipline • Experience leading and managing research projects using participatory action approaches, as well as a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods; experience designing and executing program evaluations would be an asset • Demonstrated project development and management skills • Deep knowledge and understanding of anti-racism, equity and community development • Proven track record of accomplishments with minimal supervision • Strong written and oral communication skills; Excellent presentation skills • Ability to establish, balance and adjust priorities in a changing and dynamic environment Assets • Clean driver’s license • Network and connections with ethno-cultural communities Please submit both a cover letter and a resume specifying Job Posting #18-07 via email to [email protected] We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those being considered for interview will be contacted.
