Role:

Acrodex’s Client is currently seeking an experienced Magic System Administration (Contract) in Regina, Saskatchewan starting on or around January 3rd, 2017 to December 31, 2017. The contract will be for one (1) year with options to extend the agreement for up to two (2) additional years. The ideal candidate will have minimum 5 years’ experience as a Magic Service Desk Specialist or a resource with 5 years’ experience working with ITIL and SQL server. Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

General Responsibilities:

Working in a close team environment, these resources will be responsible for the administration of Magic Service Desk version 8 in order to ensure that it performs in an optimum manner. Magic Service Desk is key to the delivery methodology for the ITD. The ITD is currently in the requirements gathering and planning stages of implementing ServiceNow to replace Magic Service Desk version 8.

These resources will be responsible for performing and overseeing unit testing changes, estimating time and the impact on other areas as part of the change management and incident management processes. This resource will also be responsible for the promotion of changes and any follow up activities once it has been promoted to production, following approved processes and standards for release and change management at the ITD.

This resource will be responsible for ensuring test and production environments are kept current, as well as the following activities which are typical of this role:

  • Administer groups and user privileges, maintaining and administering list values as requested
  • Work closely with the service owner teams to ensure successful software releases
  • Write scripts and programs to assist in development, testing, and release
  • Manage and maintain the release process for Magic, ensuring the test/prod environments are fully functioning and kept in synch
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise to determine source and resolution
  • Work closely with all operational teams at the ITD
  • Support Project Delivery by setting up environments, ensuring consistent performance test results and managing environmental issues

Mandatory Qualifications (Must Have):

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Magic Service Desk Specialist or a resource with 5 years’ experience working with ITIL and SQL server.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing processes in a service delivery organization using Magic Service Desk version 8 and the alignment of that tool with ITIL based processes and procedures.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

Nice to have skills:

  • Demonstrated experience with service delivery methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience developing ITIL based processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of a configuration management database and other ITIL based processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating reports using Crystal Reports.
  • Working knowledge of IIS and ASP.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting Magic Service Desk version 8.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing or overseeing unit testing changes.
