Role:
Acrodex’s Client is currently seeking an experienced IT Project Manager (Contract) in Edmonton starting on or around October 3, 2016 to September 30th, 2017. The ideal candidate will have PM experience managing a minimum of three IT (combination of application and infrastructure) projects for a large and complex organization. See other mandatory skills listed in Qualification section. Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada to be considered for this role as we do not provide sponsorship into the country.

General Responsibilities:

  • Compile project charters and business/project plans to support activities, including the most suitable approach to be used in the development of each applicable program/project, to ensure business objectives and data integrity are achieved.
  • Assist with the development of recommendations including providing details of resource requirements, dependencies, interdependencies, policy implications pertaining to internal/external influences and the methodology to be applied.
  • Produce and package deliverables for presentation to various internal support teams, steering committee, and other project stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple projects, project managers and project governance.
  • Take responsibility for ongoing client satisfaction – manage peer-level client relationships and overcome hurdles to ensure win-win solutions.
  • Collaborate with business and IT leadership to develop a well-defined project plan that clearly states the project’s objectives, scope, assumptions, timeline, resource requirements, risks, benefits and budget.
  • Work with project sponsors to develop a project organization structure with clearly defined roles and responsibilities for all stakeholders.
  • Document and report project status against established objectives, milestones, budget and resources and facilitate tracking and closure of issues.
  • Develop processes and procedures, which support Service Alberta in collecting and maintaining quality data and lead working groups.
  • Develop project schedule plans and strategies, estimate resource requirements, develop and monitor work plans for completion of project tasks.
  • Develop training, testing and implementation methodologies for support staff and end-users.
  • In collaboration with project sponsors, assess whether the project achieved stated outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement for future similar projects.

Mandatory Qualifications (Must Have):

  • Education: must meet or exceed one of the following combinations of education and experience in a PM role: University degree + four years related experience; OR two-year diploma + six years related experience; OR a one-year certificate + seven years related experience; OR a currently active professional certification or accreditation in a related discipline from a recognized issuing body + seven years related experience.
  • Experience managing a minimum of three (3) IT projects (combination of application and infrastructure) for an organization of equivalent size and complexity to a large public sector environment.
  • 7 years’ experience in developing project schedule plans and strategies, estimate resource requirements, develop and monitor work plans for completion of project tasks.
  • 7 years’ experience identifying, analyzing and managing project risks on large complex projects
  • 5 years’ experience with ITIL IT change and communication methodologies
  • 3 years’ experience with User Acceptance Testing processes on large, complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • 2 years’ experience working within an Agile development environment
  • 2 years’ experience working with data interface models and techniques with multiple systems
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

Additional skills (Desirable):

  • Currently active PMP or PgMP Certification as issued by the Project Management Institute or equivalent.
  • 1 year experience in leading cross ministry or cross jurisdictional projects where multiple stakeholders are impacted.
  • 8 years’ experience in communicating and developing presentations for all levels in an organization including experience with developing business documentations
  • 3 years’ Experience in MS Project, PowerPoint, and other office products (recent versions)
  • ITIL Foundation certified V2 or V3
  • 3 years’ experience with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning
  • 2 years’ experience with applying security controls in project solutions and designs including STRA and PIA
  • 5 years’ experience in managing multiple projects at a program level.
  • 3 years’ experience with IT Emerging Technologies such as servers, storage and IT infrastructure networks
  • 3 years’ Project experience with hardware and software refresh projects
  • 5 years’ experience managing organizational and technological change.
