SAFETY ADVISORS are committed to the health and safety of their field workers and seek to help the company achieve safety excellence. As an advisor, you will detect and rectify unsafe or unhealthy working conditions, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing workplace safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Zero incidenUinjury strategy implementation

BC Occupational Health & Safety Code & Regulations interpretation and advice.

Facilitate, train and enforce The Sims Group Constructions safety program(s).

Assist managemenUsupervision in carrying out investigation, analysis and preparation of incident reports and summaries.

Assist managemenUsupervision in the development and implementation of Safe Work Procedures for various sites.

Create and maintain a safety culture with clients, employees and fellow staff.

Inspect work areas to ensure equipment, materials, and processes do not present a safety or health hazard.

Investigate health and safety related complaints.

Encourage managers and employees to participate in safety programs.

Investigate workplace incidents, ensuring all documentation are provided to the Health and Safety Department.

Research, prepare and offer the necessary safety talks and meetings.

Ensure all local statistics and documents are prepared as needed, and forwarded to the Health and Safety Manager

Promptly respond to any urgent situations

Conduct oneself at all times in a fashion, which portrays our company in a professional light.

Assist, mentor & cooperate with other members of the Health and Safety Department.

Regularly attend contractors kick off meetings, tool-box meetings and provide support in the presentation of such material and training.

Approximately 80% field work is expected.

Other duties as defined by Health and Safety Manager

Qualifications:
CSO or NCSO Certification

Valid CSTS

2-5 years Construction experience directly related to safety

Orientations

Train worker in WHIM IS and Lock out Tag out

Valid Class 5

Clear and precise verbal and written communication skills

Good attitude to work with Site Superintendents to solve problems while not creating new ones.

Ability to demonstrate a personal commitment and positive attitude toward workplace health and safety

High degree of accuracy and attention to details

Ability to manage multiple high-level responsibilities and tasks

Must be willing to travel

or proceed with Standard Application Form.
