Description
The Project Engineering Internship student will provide engineering support to the Oil Sands Operations team Project Engineering Team. This position is responsible for supporting the Project Engineering Team for projects related to upgrade modifications for continual improvement and safe operation of the Surmont Central Processing Facilities, well pads, pipelines, control and auxiliary systems.
Responsibilities
Support and comply with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of CPC’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System
Ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility
Act in support to the assigned Sr. Project Engineers for implementation of capital projects ( >$0.5MM), utilizing the Surmont small projects process (MPMS), including all project phases from engineering design, construction and handover to operations. Assist the Sr. Project Engineer and technical team to design, build and implement small capital projects; key interfaces include design engineering, contractor management and liaising with the Surmont Operations team for effective implementation of projects to the existing facility
Assist in the review in support of process and HSE management, including risk and hazard identification, HAZOP, HSE review and technical asset integrity reviews for each project managed
Assist in the Execution, review and receive approval of Management of Change (MOC) in all projects
Assist in the use of appropriate discipline engineering specification & standards, design codes and regulations in all project design
Assist in the provision of facilities project engineering liaises, coordination and input to Surmont development plans
Support Operations Excellence initiatives
Assist Coordination with R&D for required testing or technology development
Assist in the communication with internal and external COP technical networks to enhance and share knowledge and skills
